Unfortunately some desirable characteristics of vintage equipment have been lost while gaining these improvements. Colourations and distortion inherent in some of the older equipment had a very desirable musical sound. Vertigo Sound try to combine the best of modern hi-tech design with the best sonics of the past. These new designs provide fine control over all parameters. Use of the best components and construction techniques ensures a long and reliable working life. These units will become the Classics in years to come

Who

Vertigo Sound is brand new pro-audio manufacturing venture. The people behind the name however, have been involved in high end analogue equipment since the late nineties. In HE Studiotechnik, the team provides technical services in modification, repair, and sales, of high end vintage equipment. They are consummate analogue audio technicians, recording engineers, and musicians. For years they have worked with the very best audio designs from German Broadcast and Recording history. In Vertigo Sound they hope to bring this rich heritage to today’s Recordings.

When

June 2007 saw the introduction of the first product from Vertigo Sound. This is the VSC-2, a.k.a. Quad Discrete Compressor. It is so named because it uses 4 VCA’s built by hand using only discrete components. It’s design is a nod toward the best VCA based compressors of the 70’s and 80’s.
